Saving a species with cutting edge technology
All species of sea turtles are affected by climate change, and because they are reptiles, the genders of the hatchlings are temperature dependent. Increased temperature as a result of global warming may create a gender imbalance, causing more female turtles to hatch than males.
DevicesWorld has designed and adapted its iSCADA technology to help conservationists and researchers monitor temperature fluctuations via it’s purpose-built iNEST system.
Using iSCADA technology, iNEST provides continuous real-time profiles of sea-turtle egg clutches during incubation.
Monitoring these nest conditions is important to further understand the nesting behaviour of the hatchlings and keep track of changes in the temperature of the sand.
